Hello, my name is Avery Darnell Wilkerson Jr., and I attend UNC to pursue a dual degree in sports administration and communication. I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I also completed my high school education at Lake Norman Charter. I’m an outgoing 18-year-old with various goals, but my focus is primarily on athletics. I am a dedicated individual who now manages the UNC JV basketball team. Because I enjoyed history in high school, especially American history, I thought early in my high school career that I wanted to major in history. I discovered in college that I had a strong desire to work in the sports industry, so I joined the UNC Men’s Basketball team as a JV manager. I believed that I wanted to study in media and journalism in order to work in sports journalism. I didn’t love writing when I first arrived at UNC, so I changed my major to communication and sports administration. Now that I want to work in the sports industry, primarily in the front office, I will enroll in a graduate program to earn my Master’s in Business after undergrad here at UNC. I’ve attached my resume.
